I’ve definitely used products that left me feeling less than fresh after exercising (like thick moisturizers that sit on top of sweaty skin or deodorants that don’t last), so I had high expectations for the new line. So when Lululemon dropped its “ self-care” line of beauty products last month (its tagline promises “solutions to sweaty problems”), I was intrigued. There’s a dry shampoo for cleaning up after a workout two deodorants for keeping odor in check during a working out or just a full day at work a lightweight moisturizer the brand says won’t feel heavy on your skin while exercising (and helps calm and hydrate skin afterwards) and a lip balm to prevent moisture loss during a dehydrating run or gym session (and replenish it once you’re done). Like similar products from Clinique’s CliniqueFIT line or the E.L.F Cosmetic Active collection, Lulu’s products are part of a growing trend of skincare and makeup designed to perform while you’re working up a sweat. In fact, Lulu’s soft, moisture-wicking, and seamless Swiftly shirts and tanks now comprise most of my running wardrobe, because they’re not as scratchy and cause less chafing than a lot of my other tech gear. That’s because Lulu pieces exist at the intersection of comfort and functionality, whether you’re doing yoga in the stretchy, second skin-like Align pants, or stashing all of your supplies (phone, keys, energy gels, etc.) for a long run in the pockets of the Fast & Free tights. You can definitely find cheaper exercise gear, but after trying lots of different brands, I can confidently say that Lululemon really gets working out and makes clothing perfectly suited for practically any activity.
